What is Bible Bowl?

Bible Bowl is the national Bible quizzing program of the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. There are two quizzing programs: Bible Bowl, for youth in grades 6-12.

Mission Statement:

Bible Bowl is a ministry designed to promote spiritual growth, fellowship, knowledge of God's word, and a Christian attitude within a competitive atmosphere.

Who is in charge?

Bible Bowl is administered nationally by National Bible Bowl, which became an independent organization in 2001. Prior to this, Bible Bowl was administered by the North American Christian Convention. The NACC is an annual gathering of Christians affiliated with the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. These churches are non-denominational with the simple idea that Christians should be "Christians only," not bound by denominational ties or names. Each local congregation is autonomous, and answers to no denominational hierarchy. They desire simply to restore New Testament Christianity in its original form.

What do we study?

The Bible Bowl study text is a portion of Scripture, and can be from the Old or New Testament. The text for the coming year is announced on June 1, prior to the current National Tournament. Questions for Bible Bowl are not published in advance of the competitions. This year's text is the book of Acts.

Bible Bowl is a structured Bible quizzing program for youth in the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.  It is organized on a local as well as on a national level.  There are hundreds of teams all around the United States who all study the same portion of Scripture over the course of a 10-11 month period.  Teams compete monthly on a local level. At the end of the year, many of these teams travel to the National Bible Bowl Tournament.  There are also several summer tournaments held at Christian colleges during the weeks leading up to the National Tournament.  Top achievers are awarded trophies and scholarships to Christian and Bible colleges. Hundreds of churches and thousands of young people are involved in the program.
